Staycation

I had 5 for a little staycation in North Side for the night, Hayley, Emily, Katherine, Justin and Hunter.
Checked out a good fishing spot to come back too, unfortunately we caught nothing.
But Hunter and Justin were more successful in the pond, they managed to catxh quite few Tillapia!

By The Sea

Hayley and Emily decided to open a restaurant "By the Sea". So Wednesday evening they fed 24 guests with a little help from family and friends down at Granny's beach.
The setting was fabulous and the food and service first class. However, Hayley has informed me she is no longer interested in the restaurant business (Glad we got that one and horses out of the way early on) :-)

"Adventure" Island

The girls slept in too late for Adventure Island so Hunter and I set out on our own adventure. Way down the network of inlets we caught two Greenback minnows (they look like baby Mullet to me).
We also saw some weird stingrays, lots of fish and birds and got some much-needed excersise!

Good Luck Charm

We didn't take our good luck charm fishing and as a result ended up with a beautiful day but no legal fish.
The spanish mackerel gave us a hard time and we never landed one. Just one snook and one salt-water catfish made it to the boat. But there was lots to see, lots of bites, just not as productive as our previous trip.

Back home it was an evening in the pool but again the lightening has moved in to dampen the 4th of July celebrations. We are going out to dinner anyhow....

Evening

After shopping all afternoon the kayaks again saw action.
The tide was high and there were some huge manatees.

Then the racoons came out.

And the models hit the pool!

Kayaking

Finally made it out kayaking, that's "our" house in the background.
We came across a bunch of Manatees, they were very friendly, almost too friendly! When you are sitting in a little piece of plastic below water level and they suddenly pop up and blow it can be somewhat unnerving!

My pros were up to the task thanks to all the practice at Granny's. Wish we could have done this sooner, think we will be back out this evening.

Fishing

Another rainy, cloudy morning but we took a chance and went fishing anyhow. Captain Mark turned out to be a good choice, he knew lots of spots and had all types of live bait. Unfortunately we had to weave around the Bay dodging storm clouds. First catch was a Ladyfish (on the first cast), the second was this beautiful Snook. There is a ban on keeping Snook right now so he was returned safely to his home.
We caught and kept our next two legal-size Redfish, then Hunter landed this monster which we released.

Then the storm moved in and we returned to shore untill it passed. Then back out we went, even though someone was ready just in case it came again!

We caught and released a few more Redfish, saw lots of interesting sights (even a dolphin), then returned to shore where Captain Mark cleaned our catch. Dinner tonight: Fresh Redfish! :-)

Shopping again...

More dodgy weather so more Women's World Cup in the morning and then off to the Mall. When we got back Hayley kept watch as...
...Hunter checked out the kayaks and ...

...did some fishing.

We didnt catch anything but there are always interesting things to see. Our dolphins visited again this morning, we have a resident Osprey who eats his catch right off our balcony, we saw a snake bird, there are lots of mullets, manatees and some other things we cannot identify. Planning for an early night tonight, then hoping the weather will work for a trip to Busch Gardens.

Florida Aquarium

The overcast drove us to indoor activities so after watching some World Cup we headed over to the Florida Aquarium.
We had a good time there then had a very late lunch at Cody's Roadhouse. Jared and Elena came by and collected Emily just after 8, I think she and my two will get to sleep really early tonight, they had an absolute blast the past few days. Nice to see Jared too, a fine young man.

Breakfast Treat

Our first dolphins came to visit this morning. They did some jumps and swam around as we ate our breakfast. So excited! Makes the aquarium so much less appealing now.

Adventure Island

The three amigos at Adventure Island!
Make that four!

Hunter on the speed slide, yes the speck at the top left.

Hayley and Emily were last down this slide before they closed the park due to lightening.

My snuggler learning her way around the kitchen...:-)

Orlando

We had two days in Orlando and the vote was Magic Kingdom for the first day. We rode Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain; probably not the smartest thing for me to do while suffering with the flu!
It was a magical day until the thunderstorms moved in late afternoon.

We rode alot of rides and saw some parades,

then it was time for dinner. Don't let that look fool you... he ate all his snow crab and most of mine!

Now in our "home away from home" in Tampa, Emily has just arrived and we are off on more adventures!

Weekend in North Side

We spent the weekend up at the North Side house getting it back in shape.
New BBQ grill... tested it out and it works just fine. Greg and Nana stopped by for dinner so we had a great visit with them.

They both came back for breakfast to try a special coffee Greg brought from Thailand, Kopi Luwak, the most expensive coffee in the World. The coffee plants are from the 1830's and the beans are eaten by cats whose excrement is then collected to retrieve the beans. SO... basically we drank cat poop coffee...

3 Day Weekend

We spent much of Saturday doing things at the North Side house but Sunday it was off to Rum Point again. Lots of nice people and lots of ripe mangoes!
Uncle Randy took the kids out for some tubing.

Then Monday we did it all over again (after some more work at the North Side house in the morning). We took Max to North Side but that's a whole other story...

The House

Our tenants are moving out so we went to say goodbye and take a dip in the pool. Also went by the mango farm for the first pick of the season!

Tomorrow their numbers will have been greatly reduced...:-)

10 Days In Little Cayman

So, the weekend involved a lot of watersports.
But we also attended the Easter Auction.

We did a fair amount of fishing.

And we didn't do too bad!

We did some biking.

Some kayaking.

Some tubing.

We greatly appreciated the extra holiday for the royal wedding.

Even got in some Little Cayman nightlife! Great trip.
