Long weekend (sort of) part 2

Twas a beautiful day at Rum Point.

Long weekend (sort of)

Hunter had inter-primary track meet on Friday, he did quite well in the 100 and 200m, high jump and shotput. There was no school on Friday so Hayley invited her friends to the Turtle Farm. This is Chloe in the aviary.
Hayley and Chloe.
All the girls holding a sea turtle.

There's always tomorrow.

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is a holiday and also Agricultural Show day. Everybody loved the breeze up in the hut.
Met up with Chloe; she, Hayley and Hunter inspected the cows, pigs, chickens and goats.
Also Katherine and a friendly rabbit.
Then we got conchs and headed to Rum Point, it was a nice day.
Hunter and me...
Hayley and me...
The 3 Roulstone children and friends! What a beautiful Wednesday!

Orchid Show

We took a drive out East, stopped at the Farmer's Market and then on to the Orchid Show at the Botanic Park.
Only now do I realise I never took one picture of an orchid! (But did buy 3)
Then we went to check on the North Side house, visited Nana and made a few other stops. Now off to visit Granny and Grandaddy and take a swim.

Last Day of Lobster Season

A lovely Sunday and the last day of Lobster season. We were out and back in within two hours with 5 lobsters and 10 conchs. Then over to Alan and Joyce's for a BBQ. The children were a little worn out from the day before...
...others were worn out from hunting lobsters and conchs for two hours...
...Jill exausted from birthday party organizing and Shirley with the same excuse as me!

Lucky 13

I can hardly believe Hayley is a teenager! Big 13 yesterday and Aunty Jill, Grandma, Granny and in fact just about everyone in the extended family made sure it was a grand affair.
And what better location than Granny's?!
Just as we did when we were a little younger they spent hours on the "slippery rocks".
All the time under the watchful eyes of Granny, Grandma, Rhoda and Melin! (Jill busy looking at pictures, Eric, Nana and Aunt Pam enjoying some leisure time)
The Wisconsin side of the "family" introduced us to a game last year and it was a big hit again this time.
I am not quite sure how Pinatas came into our traditions but who cares as long as there is fun involved! (Bea has quite the swing but it was Chloe's baseball arm that took it out).
Beautiful birthday cake, wonderful birthday party followed by a giant sleepover... what an introduction to parenthood of a teen. :-)

Sunday at Rum Point Part 428

I spent much of the week in Kingston at a conference.

I returned just in time to pick Grandma up from the the airport. She traded the frozen North for a beautiful Sunday at Rum Point. Go figure.

We got some conchs and cleaned them up for lunch. The stingrays were happy for the scraps and Jill got stingray-feeding lessons. It was a fun day...

admittedly more fun for some than others!

The Danes

Shirley's birthday and the Danish side of the family visiting, a recipe for a party! Spent the morning fixing food and stocking coolers then out in the boat early afternoon. First conchs and then off to Rum Point.
We were entertained by a great kite surfer.
It was windy so he was getting some great jumps in. Windy, but sunny and beautiful.
Back to Gary's for birthday cake, then later to Granny's for singing and relaxing. Full day.

A Winters Day

Great day to be at Granny's!
Even got Granny to come for a swim! (left)
It is Winter so the water was cccccoooolllldddd!
Jill, freshly arrived from BC, did not think it cold at all.
And those of Danish extraction didn't think so either! :-) A nice family day at the beach, that's what Winter is for...

1st Long Weekend

Long weekends were made for Little Cayman.
We did pretty good at getting lots of fresh seafood.
Explored around on the reef at night...
and found this beautiful octopus,
then explored the bush a bit and found this beautiful interior pond. Amazingly the old path to the pond, hundreds of years old, is still there. Definately worth another trip, March anyone? :-)
