Great Sunday for a swim at Granny's. Still have big swells rolling in from Gus but lots of nice pools to play in.
After the big sand fight we all had to work hard to get it out of every nook and cranny. Then we visited for a while and it will be an early night tonight; back to school tomorrow.
Friday night and we are having a tour of Webkins! Hayley has 19 so it took a while.

This morning the waves are fierce but the skies are clearing.

Looking towards town. We lost some limbs from trees and I lost lots of sleep but other than that we fared well. Little Cayman apperently has taken a bad lick and there is damage in Cayman Brac also, but Grand Cayman seems to be back to normal with only sporadic power outages. We never lost power or phone.
With Gustav lingering near by, we walked out to check the state of the ocean. A little choppy, a little rainy but mostly a non-event. We will make the best of it!.jpg)

We were fishing, but we were more feeding; we were not catching, with the exception of Kristi who caught a nice yellowtail snapper and Gary who caught 3 bar jacks. I managed to catch a barjack in the pool net. Yes it was that kind of night. But it was fun to have a glass of wine on a calm sea with great friends whether or not the fish chose to cooperate!
Blessed with near-perfect weather we were off again yellowtailing, but not before catching some bait. So Shirley and I braved a rainy Saturday afternoon and numerous jellyfish stings catching fries and sprats. Pictures of the trip when all necessary permissions received! Children stayed with Granny and we are off to Rum Point again today. How boring is that?
First day in the new school, just orientation so only for a few minutes but they were fully dressed and ready to go! Cynthia and Jenn on hand (also Aunt Shirshir) and it all went very smoothly. "Real" school on Monday.
Tropical Storm watches ignored thanks to the benefit of sattellite imagery, we were off to Rum Point! Again. Yes, weatherman's son. :-)
Far fewer boats than usual, but a sunny day for a refreshing swim.
Another nice day with good friends and perfect weather. Well deserved end to a short weekend.

We now take early morning walks on the beach at 6:30am with Rex and Dolly as part of our new healthy lifestyle! Here is Hunter with the girls not far behind (Caroline, Hayley and Jenn) as the cattle ship prepares to anchor in George Town harbour.
On this morning we were joined by Liv and Jack (a Jack Russell Terrier), so he's the little one on the left of Hunter, Rex, Dolly and Hayley. The children and Rex have decided the early morning is perfect for swimming too. We will have to see how we can work this out when school starts in a little over a week.
My babies are back. The flight was 15 minutes early on a sunny Sunday afternoon and with most of the family off-island it was up to Nana and me to welcome them home. Thank you so much all my Canadian friends and family for taking such good care of them. I've seen the pictures and it was so good to see everyone. Can't wait to see everyone again but in person. Right now we have an empty 4 bedroom house if anyone wants to come and visit! Thanks again and we love you!

Saturday morning and the move is on. And I had a great helper too!
That helper was Selda, seen here driving the CRV behind me in the truck. Of course we just got the truck loaded when the heavens opened up so all the bulky items in the back got soaked. Then the skies cleared and everything got blown dry on the way into town. One more trip and I will be all moved, but still have the rest of the family to go.
Rex and I had a Sunday morning walk on the beach and met up with Ms. Ann who happened to be walking Rex's playmates, Trio and Fergus.
They had lots of fun and now a completely exhausted Rex has passed out on the porch.
Now he will have a bath and then enjoy a relaxing afternoon as I take advantage of a flat-calm cloudless Sunday and do some boating.
How romantic is that! A sunset walk on the beach with a dog! And tough to get a picture of too. But it was a beautiful evening on the turtle-nesting beach with about 15 nests so far.
And Rex the chick-magnet came through for me finally! And he is quite proud of the fact too. Mmmmmm...
Being completely unaccustomed to extreme heat, my paper Canadians have had to employ intersting strategies to adjust. Such as playing under the sprinkler and
... sleeping outside on the deck.
A visit to the waterpark with some real Canadians (Tanya and Rod's children) also helps.
For the birthday boy, a ride on a train with Grandma was meant to be relaxing but low and behold they were robbed at gunpoint!
I broke down and bought another camera. So back to blogging. It was a very rough flight over, but just before we arrived the skies cleared over Little Cayman. We could both smile after feeling like puking for 40 minutes.
The first day the weather was nice and we spent the day fishing. And of course relaxing afterward. Went almost around the island and a fantastic boat trip only made better by the fact we did well fishing too!
We even caught some nice crabs in the evening.
The meals were first class. Here our freshly caught fish prepared "Brown-stew" by Chef Gary.
Then Tropical Storm Dolly put a damper on the fishing, but not on our fun. Very windy conditions and high waves but very little rain. Notice the"mangrove club" is surrounded by water. The boat also pulled anchors and fortunately came ashore right on the beach. Got lots of rest, ate way too much. Nice flight home this evening and back to the many tasks at hand...
