Quiet Sunday

Despite near-perfect weather, we had a quiet day around the house mostly. I worked in the yard dismantling the old shed while H&H had a relaxing time watching TV. We visited Jima and Susan for a dip in the frigid pool, then stopped by Dave and Kathy's where Hunter and hayley tried some weight lifting with a unique barbell (coconut tree trunks!). Late in the evening Hunter and I trimmed out the road, then a relaxing dinner and a visit from Nana.

Science Fair Thursday night

Hayley and teammate prepare their demonstration as Starri's mom and Jen supervise.
Hayley explains her team's creation to a judge at the science competition. Not very effective but very artistic! They recieved a special round of applause from the judges because they were the only two from their team who showed up and they still competed.

Cayman Brac 2007

Brac Weekend 2007:

Exploring the ancient wave-cut terrace now a long way from the sea,
Exploring caves is always high on the list of things to do,
even for those not fond of caves.
There's always hiking and photography,
of course the pool, and then the girls took a cheap shot at daddy... scoring a painful direct hit!And then its always great to come home to Rex!

Lazy Sunday

A lazy Sunday afternoon. Jenn out cold in the Hammock,
Hunter out cold on daddy's chest.

Cancer Walk

L-R: Jenn, Rex, Hayley, Sable, Ann and Suzie about half way through the Cancer Walk. Hunter had made it to about here and I provided pick-up service. The walk finished at Rum Point but it was too choppy to swim. It was a great day for a walk but too windy to do much else. Everyone is now recovering: Jenn in the Hammock, Hayley and Hunter in bed watching TV!

Hayley had a friend Aaliyah over after school "helping to clean-up her room". Not sure how much cleaning got done!

Frank Sound

After our usual busy Saturday morning, the gang went to Frank Sound for a sailing trip. The crew of the as yet un-named sailboat Captains Hunter and Hayley with seadog Rex. This was Rex's first trip in the boat. I am not sure if he enjoyed it.
The girls went snorkelling...
The boys played in the mud...
The Roulstones; Daddy, Hunter, Hayley and Rex!
I really don't know what to title this picture! Daddy and Hayley walking on water? It was another nice day at the beach.

Skating

Santa brought skates and a skateboard so Jenn took the skater and skateboarder out for a whirl on the basketball court. No injuries to report.

New Years Eve

Champagne? No, sparkling grape juice but just as good (if not better!).
Aunt Tinnie prepared a feast.
Granny, me, Aunt Shir-Shir chillin.

New Year's Eve 2006

A sleepy man on Saturday night after the sleep-over at Starri's,
Uncle Greg holds the as yet un-named sailboat in the shallow waters of Frank Sound after we had lunch with Granny, Grandaddy, and Aunt Shir-Shir in East End, (any suggestions for a name?)

Merry Christmas to all!

Sorry, memory card on the camera died this afternoon so lost all the pictures of the mayhem this morning and the family lunch this afternoon. A hot and sunny day so the kids and Rex enjoyed the ocean while the adults ate way too much! A smaller Christmas lunch than normal but we all enjoyed each others company, especially since it is rare for us all to be together. Santa was very kind to all. One can barely move in the house for al the toys, cardboard and paper. The economy of China will be even more booming, and even more tropical forests will fall under the axe thanks to "his" generosity. Boxing day holiday tomorrow and we are invited to MacFarlane's Open House party in the afternoon. Off the rest of the week with lots of projects to complete and some fun stuff to do too!
Merry Christmas everybody!

Twas The 49th Anniversary...

Twas just 2 days 'till Christmas...

So some people are smiling in anticipation of good things to come. But I am told by people who know that I have been bad and therefore unlikely to receive a visit from Santa! Oh well, Hunter, Hayley and Rex are ready!

Twas 5 days before Christmas...

While daddy sweated it out escorting the Governor and his family into the Salina Reserve to release blue iguanas, H & H enjoyed the company of the Bush family (Jeff and Seretha that is) with their kids at Morritts pool!

Boys and Girls

A very busy weekend as usual... spent much of Saturday in town (gymnastics, lunch, shopping, transporting a fridge) then dinner with the Reids until late. Spent Sunday morning cleaning the house then went to Gary's and out in the boat getting home after 6 and expecting dinner guests for 7! Somehow we pulled it off and everyone finally left around midnight. Pictures are Hunter, Charlie (Don's son) and me, and me with the girls. In the rush forgot to take pictures of the dinner but it was a wine tasting dinner with varietal wines paired with different foods... ended up consuming 9 bottles among 10 people. I think everyone had a good time!

What to do on a wintery Tuesday!

I went for a hike in the Salina Reserve this afternoon to help some high school students release 9 baby Blue Iguanas. It was a beautiful sight to see them get their first taste of freedom. The students had helped raise $1300 for the project. The hike was just what I needed after two miserable days in the office! After the hike I found Rex, Jenn and the kids enjoying a picnic at Great Beach. Another Winter day in Cayman!
