Easter Sunday

Top: Starri and Hayley enjoy Starri's birthday at the Botanic Park.
Middle: Norma did not want a party so we had a birthday party for Rex which also doubled as a second birthday party for Starri!
Bottom: Starri and the gang blow out the candles on the Easter Agouti cake! Rex, unfortunately, was not able to help.

Easter Saturday

The Snugglers and Starri enjoyed a Cayman tradition by camping on Easter weekend! A calm sunny Friday became a windy, rainy Friday night but the sun was back Saturday morning. I camped in the same spot I have almost every night for the past nine years!

Late Saturday afternoon clouds of smoke billowed as some moron set fire to yard trimmings dumped by the roadside. The high winds whipped it into the trees and sent the fire racing inland towards the house until...
...the fire service arrived and prevented further spread. It continues to smoke tonight much to the annoyance of the Whittakers whose home is just downwind.

A late evening swim to end the day. That is not a tatoo, not sure what it is, but I am not going through midlife crisis (as far as I can tell, could be wrong, but no tatoo as yet)!

While I was busy at work presenting iguana sponsorship papers to the year 6 at Prospect Primary...
Grandma arrived and was enjoying the two snugglers, the Cayman weather and the pool!

Sunday evening

Grandma, this is the deck looking towards the old patio with the back porch door just behind the girls.
Starri came by so we all went for a short walk,
and Starri took a picture of us since we are never all in the same picture!
Rex and the girls played on the aggregate whilst Hunter and I played a little football! He won.
A quiet evening and we now await Aunt Shirshir with the pizza!

Rough Weekend

The wind will not stop and it is way too rough for boating this weekend (view from the porch). With Hayley home sick with the flu it was probably not on the cards anyway and Hunter had a sleep over at Katherine's so was still able to have a fun weekend.
As I worked in the yard a territorial dispute arose between two Blue-throated Anoles...
It was a violent affair but both walked away uninjured except for one's pride. Just about the most exciting thing that has happened all weekend! Still a few hours to go!

Sports Day 2007

A beautiful windy morning for a sports day as Aunt Shir shir and Jenn get ready for the action.
North Side Primary's celebrity announcer Jennifer hard at work as...
Aunt Shir Shir coaches the rising star in the bean bag race.
Hayley and Aaliya compete in the sack race then...
together in the three-legged race.
Hunter in the "lime & spoon" race. Hayley and Hunter's team won so all the hard work and determination was rewarded.

Sunday March 18th

We were expecting company so the house had to be cleaned. Yes Shawn, we actually do some house cleaning although I do try to keep it to a minimum!
There was still some time for playing in the new half-painted planters... but all the hard work got the better of the man!
It started with drinks by the pool with Liv and Dave,
and ended much later with a rather motley looking crew, most of whom I had never even seen before! A fun Sunday, new friends, some great food and everyone exhausted from another busy weekend.

Saturday Swim

Finally a swim, after all were back from piano classes, gymnastics, and lunch with Aunt Shir Shir; and daddy and Nana painted the railings with their primer, reconnected the guttering, re-organized the porch and cleaned some windows. A deserved swim I would say!

Happy Birthday to Jenn!

I came home from work to find the pool full of kids!
Jenn is 24 today and the love of her life surprised her by flying in from Florida! All the kids stayed for birthday cake and helped blow out the candles!

Tropical Life

Life in the tropics has its challenges. Here, our brave au pair risks life and limb to remove this Woodslave (nocturnal lizard) from the kitchen! We had seen signs of him for days but only caught sight of him late this evening. I was in favour of leaving him alone (he would keep the bugs away) but Jenn wouldn't be able to sleep knowing he was there, vicious beast that he is! Alas, he is safely back in the woods where he belongs.
Life in the tropics also has its advantages. After school this is our alternative to shoveling snow, although it obviously is not as much fun!
